A NEWER and safer version of Safari has just been released for security-conscious net users.
Safari 4.0 boasts a feature list including a large section on security and privacy, extensive parent controls, and the ability to tag of downloaded files to mark where and when they came from.
Previously, internet browser Safari lacked phishing protection, EV-SSL support, malware site blocking and a variety of lesser functions. Consumer Reports urged users to dump Safari and PayPal hinted that a browser such as that was unsafe to use with their service.
While on Windows Vista and later Safari 4.0 does not have Internet Explorer's Protected Mode support, a feature which provides substantial defense-in-depth against many compromises, PCMag's Security Watch says the browser is a huge step up from the previous version and is highly secure from a security standpoint.
