SINCE the recent revelation of the iPhone worm in Australia, Trend Micro Threat Researchers have confirmed that the source code is now publicly available and modification of the code to work on other networks is possible.
Trend Micro says its researchers have been looking into how much of a threat the iPhone worm is, what are the wider implications for users and how can users stay safe.
“Being affected by this worm is like smashing your car window to get the keys, not getting the window repaired and then wondering where your CD player went,” Trend Micro consumer director, Australia and New Zealand, David Peterson says.
According Trend Micro, the iPhone worm only targeted users who have broken their agreement with Apple, by unlocking the phone enabling the possibility of running any program on the iPhone.
Trend Micro recommends that all users maintain security on their computers with the Trend Micro Smart Surfing for iPhone and iPod Touch devices, the first secure browser to protect users from Web pages with malicious intent.
