CONTENT management solutions developer Kaspersky Lab has announced the release of Kaspersky Mobile Security (KMS) 8.0.
The company said the new version features cutting-edge technologies and an improved level of protection against the wide range of threats facing smartphone users.
According to Kaspersky, the Anti-theft module of Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 also makes it possible for the owner of a lost or stolen smartphone to remotely block access to or completely wipe the memory of the device by simply sending a codeword via SMS to the user's number.
The product allows users to locate missing or stolen phones via Global Positioning System (GPS).
Gun Suk Ling, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab for Southeast Asia said after sending an SMS with a password to the lost device, the user receives a link to Google Maps containing its exact coordinates.
If the SIM card is removed from a lost or stolen phone, the SIM-Watch module in Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 sends a hidden message notifying the owner of the new number.
The company said that with the new software, users are able to store their sensitive and confidential data in safe folders that are permanently encrypted and accessible only with a user-defined password.
Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 is available for $33 at selected IT shops in Singapore or online at www.antivirus365.net/. For more information, visit www.kaspersky.com.sg.
