Cisco, NetApp and VMare teams up

CISCO, NetApp and VMare have announced their plans to expand their long-standing collaboration to improve the security of virtualised data centres for cloud computing.

The Secure Multi-tenancy Design Architecture is based on Cisco’s Nexus Series Switches and Unified Computing System, NetApp’ FAS storage with MultiStore, and VMware’ vSphere and vShield Zones.

Cisco claims the design will help customers build a unified, virtualised infrastructure which is safe and secure.

"Our joint vision with NetApp and VMware centers on delivering a unified architecture for customers to design and build a complete, virtualized data centre that will streamline operations and improve their business resilience." Cisco, Enterprise, Commercial and Small Business, senior vice president and general manager, Tony Bates says.

According to Cisco’s Bates, the new design will isolate information technology which may be shared by the same virtual infrastructure used by the data centre.

"A unified architecture approach is more important than ever before," Bates says.
